Bimini is the closest Bahamian island to Florida, close enough that on a clear day you can pick it up on the horizon a few minutes after leveling off. Ernest Hemingway kept a fishing base here through the 1930s. It is the easiest island day trip we fly.
Buzz Air lands at South Bimini Airport (BIM), a port of entry with Bahamian customs and immigration on the field. From there it's a five-minute cab and a short water taxi to Alice Town on North Bimini, where the marinas, beach bars and bonefish flats are.

What to do in Bimini
The Bimini Road
A half-mile of oddly uniform limestone blocks lying under twenty feet of clear water. Whether it is an Atlantis ruin or a natural formation is still argued over. Either way it is one of the best-known snorkel sites in the Bahamas.
Wreck of the SS Sapona
A concrete-hulled WWI-era steamer that ran aground in 1926 sits half-above, half-below the surface between Bimini and Cat Cay. Good for snorkeling, diving and photography.
Bonefishing flats
Bimini's shallow flats helped earn it the title of big-game fishing capital of the world in Hemingway's era, and the bonefish guides working out of Alice Town are still among the best anywhere.
Honeymoon Harbour
A sheltered cove off Gun Cay where southern stingrays come right up to swimmers in waist-deep water. An easy boat trip from either Bimini marina.

Is there customs and immigration at Bimini's airport?
Yes. South Bimini (BIM) is an official Bahamian port of entry, so we clear customs and immigration right on the field. Buzz Air handles the customs processing; the standard Bahamas processing fee is $150 one-way or $300 round-trip per flight.
Do I need a passport to fly to Bimini?
Yes. U.S. citizens need a valid passport and a return ticket. Every visitor completes a Bahamas Immigration Arrival/Departure Card, which we'll have ready for you before departure.
Can I bring dive or fishing gear?
Yes, that is what the Grand Caravan is for. Pack soft-sided bags where you can and keep total baggage near 30 pounds per passenger. Tell your coordinator about rods, tanks or coolers so we plan the load properly.
