Chub Cay sits at the southern tip of the Berry Islands, right on the edge of the Tongue of the Ocean, where the bank drops from thirty feet to six thousand in a very short distance. That geography is the whole reason the island exists as a destination: the blue water is close enough that boats fish it and come back for lunch.
The island is effectively a private marina and resort with its own airstrip (CCZ). It is one of the shorter Bahamas flights we do, and one of the simplest, because you land and are already there.

What to do in Chub Cay
The drop-off
Marlin, tuna, wahoo and mahi within a short run of the marina. Chub has been a serious billfish destination since the 1960s and hosts tournaments through the season.
The marina
A deep-water marina that takes large boats, with fuel, ice and a dockside restaurant. It is the main hub for anyone cruising the Berrys.
Mama Rhoda Reef
A shallow patch reef right off the resort beach, good for snorkelling straight off the sand without a boat.
The beaches
Quiet, small and mostly empty. The Berry Islands have a few hundred permanent residents across the whole chain.

How long is the flight from Florida?
About an hour and a quarter in the Grand Caravan from Fort Pierce, and a little longer from Merritt Island. Check your own departure airport in the trip planner.
Do we clear customs at Chub Cay?
Chub Cay is a port of entry and clears arriving private aircraft. Standard Bahamas customs processing is $150 one-way or $300 round-trip per flight, and all passengers need a valid passport.
Can you fly a fishing party with gear?
Yes. Rods, coolers and tackle all fit the Grand Caravan through the cargo doors. Let your coordinator know roughly what is coming so we plan the weight and balance properly.
