North Eleuthera exists in most people's plans as a transit point, because the thing they are going to is Harbour Island: a two-mile island off the north end of Eleuthera with three miles of pink sand along its eastern shore and no cars to speak of, only golf carts.
We land at North Eleuthera (ELH), a port of entry. From there it is a five-minute taxi to the government dock and a ten-minute water taxi across to Dunmore Town. Door to sand is usually under half an hour from wheels down.

What to do in North Eleuthera & Harbour Island
Pink Sands Beach
Three miles of it on the Atlantic side of Harbour Island, the colour coming from crushed foraminifera shell mixed through the sand. Protected by an offshore reef, so it stays swimmable.
Dunmore Town
Colonial clapboard houses, bougainvillea, and a working harbour front. It is one of the oldest settlements in the Bahamas and still one of the prettiest.
The Glass Window Bridge
A short drive south on Eleuthera, where the island narrows to a few yards and you can stand with the deep blue Atlantic on one side and the pale bank water on the other.
Preacher's Cave
Where the shipwrecked Eleutheran Adventurers sheltered in 1648, at the north end of the island. A quiet stop with a good beach next to it.

How do I get to Harbour Island from the airport?
Taxi from ELH to the government dock takes about five minutes, then a water taxi runs across to Dunmore Town in roughly ten. Boats run frequently through the day and your coordinator can arrange the transfer with your flight.
Do we clear customs at North Eleuthera?
Yes, ELH is a Bahamian port of entry. Customs processing is $150 one-way or $300 round-trip per flight, and U.S. citizens need a valid passport and a return ticket.
Should I fly to North Eleuthera or Governor's Harbour?
North Eleuthera for Harbour Island, Spanish Wells and the Glass Window. Governor's Harbour for the middle of the island. Eleuthera is a hundred miles long, so the two airports are well over an hour apart by road.
